A collaboration between Jednota and MeetFactory brings another unique concert. British artist Richard Youngs will perform in Prague on June 9.
Richard Youngs is a maverick whose work is united by one thing: he always does whatever he pleases. Sometimes that means songs for guitar and vocals, sometimes homemade electronic music, and other times abstract compositions for shakuhachi. This British musician, who has been creating music for a good four decades, was shaped by the ethos of the post-punk and post-industrial scenes—an ethos open to experimentation with form and sound in a DIY context, where authenticity mattered more than virtuosity. His encounters with Cabaret Voltaire and Public Image Ltd. proved to be pivotal, though the awe-inspiring explorations of early Pink Floyd should not be overlooked either.
