Stoned to Death Showcase: Never Sol + Here + Bunkerer

An evening organized by the Pardubice-based label Stoned to Death, which has been active since 2012. At this concert, the musician Never Sol will present her new album “Rest Your Wound On Mine.” Echoes of ’90s shoegaze will be brought by Here from Vyškov. And Bunkerer will serve up rich EBM vibes.

“Rest Your Wound On Mine” is Never Sol’s new album (released at the end of April). The recording, which was several years in the making, captures the artist’s journey to move away from her typical song form and begin to dissolve it into more abstract wholes. A key element for Never Sol was grounding herself in synthesizers and modular synths, in which she found the ideal sound for self-expression. The result is seven atmospheric, intense, and introspective tracks in which Never Sol has managed to capture an almost otherworldly atmosphere of detachment from the world and the material realm.

The band Here, which characteristically dubbed its style “flower noise,” was at the forefront of the early Czech indie scene, inspired by the sound of the overseas shoegaze movement. Their debut album Swirl (released in 1993) is considered one of the gems of this genre, and a newly remastered version of the album was released this year by Stoned to Death. The re-release of this album served as the impetus for the band’s rare return to club stages. Even after more than thirty years, Here still manages to bring to life the atmosphere and essence of the style they helped shape in our region.

The evening will be opened by the Kladno-based band Bunkerer, who will present their new album “Kontrolní Orgán.” It is in the spirit of stripped-down EBM, where minimalist Carpenter synth meets a strict beat and the direct vocals of a psychedelic CrossFit trainer from Planet of Death.
