This special event will feature Bettye sharing stories and performing heartfelt classics from her 64-year career, creating a captivating and memorable experience. Her journey began in 1962 at the age of sixteen in Detroit, Michigan, with the release of her first single "My Man-He’s A Lovin’ Man" by Atlantic Records. Though she recorded for several major labels in the 60s and 70s without breaking through, she has since earned prestigious accolades including the Pioneer Award from the R&B Foundation, multiple Blues Music Awards, and inductions into both the Blues Hall of Fame and R&B Hall of Fame.
LaVette has been awarded the Legacy Award by the Americana Music Association and received seven Grammy nominations. Steve Jordan, her producer, describes her talent beautifully: “When Bettye gets a hold of a song, it becomes her song. It’s like she wrote it.”
