Bon Odori Festival 2026

Join us for the vibrant Bon Odori Festival at the Tacoma Buddhist Temple! This celebration honors our loved ones who have passed, featuring lively Japanese traditional dancing and mesmerizing taiko performances.

Whether you're dancing or simply enjoying the performances, everyone is welcome to partake in the festivities!

📍 Location:
1717 S Fawcett Ave, Tacoma, WA 98402-1706, United States
Feel free to bring a blanket or small chairs for seating on the sidewalk or hillside.

🗓️ Dance Lessons:

• Dates: July 14 & 16, 7:00-8:30 PM in our social hall/basement. Learning the dances is open to everyone!

🍽️ Food & Booths:

• General Food Concessions in our lower Social Hall (enter through the North Side)
• Kaki Kori (Shave Ice)
• Young Buddhist Association T-shirt sales
• Japanese Goods: yukata, obi, accessories, zori, and geta
• Memorial Candles - $10 each

👥 Program Schedule:

• 4:00 PM: Concessions, Booths, and Beer Garden Open
• 4:30 PM: Opening Service in the Temple Hondo
• 5:00 PM: Performance by Fuji Taiko on Fawcett + Obon dancing
• 8:00 PM: Candle Memorial Observance

🍜 Obon Food Hall:
Bowls: Chicken Teriyaki, Unagi (Teriyaki Eel), Tofu and Egg
Snacks: Spam Musubi, Obon Dog, Somen
Desserts: Strawberry Mochi Trifle (new!), Strawberry Mochi, Daifuku Mochi, Handmade Pie slice (all handmade)
Drinks: Water/La Croix
