ClimART Cafe & LMCC Artist Studio Tour

O události

🎨 ClimART Cafe
Join us for a unique experience where art meets climate consciousness! At the ClimART Cafe, you’ll engage with a supportive community to express your feelings about climate change. We will then embark on an inspiring studio tour exploring the creative works of Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) resident artists who focus on climate-related themes.

What to Expect
Kickstart the day with a Climate Cafe in the gallery, facilitated by LMCC resident artist Nicole Cooper. This session includes introductions, a grounding meditation, and an open discussion about our climate emotions. Afterward, discover the studios of 2-3 resident artists. You’re welcome to continue exploring on your own until 5:00 PM as part of LMCC's Open Studio event. No previous art knowledge is required—everyone is welcome!

👉 Disclaimer: Climate Cafes are not a form of clinical therapy.

🎨 About the Facilitator
Nicole Cooper is an artist dedicated to exploring humanity's emotional relationship with our crisis-laden planet. As part of LMCC's Arts Center Residency, she examines our existence as carbon-based beings navigating a carbon crisis, utilizing unique materials such as handmade mushroom paper and captured carbon paint.

🌍 About the Climate Imaginarium
This event collaborates with the Climate Imaginarium, a vibrant hub for climate, community, and culture located on Governors Island. Here, artists, scientists, advocates, and storytellers unite to envision a more resilient future at the forefront of New York City’s green economy.

PLAN AHEAD: Getting to the Arts Center on Governors Island
The Arts Center is easily accessible with an 8-minute ferry ride from Lower Manhattan. It’s a quick 1-minute walk from the Soissons Landing ferry pier, located at 110 Andes Road, New York, NY 10004. We recommend entering through the Andes Rd side (near the CityBike racks).
For ferry schedules and details, visit the Governors Island website. All ferries are wheelchair-accessible. Ferry tickets are $5 round trip, free for seniors over 65, and children 12 and under.

🎟️ Registration:
