Join us for a unique jazz service as part of the celebrated Copenhagen Jazz Festival! 🎉 At Eliaskirken, jazz finds its rhythm within our Sunday services, but this week we have something truly exceptional in store for all jazz enthusiasts.
Our talented organist and bandleader, Olivier Antunes, has curated an outstanding lineup featuring some of Denmark's finest jazz musicians.
🌟 Meet Olivier Antunes: A charming and dynamic French-Portuguese pianist, born in Paris and raised on the Danish island of Als. He is a graduate of Vestjysk Musikkonservatorium and was discovered by saxophonist Jesper Thilo at just 22. Armed with a Ben Webster Prize and Grammy nominations, Olivier is a highly sought-after artist in the Danish jazz scene and was honored to perform for the King and Queen of Denmark during the Royal Couple's Awards presentation.
At Eliaskirken, jazz serves as our liturgical music, embodying a core tenet of Christianity: the divine is here among us. The essence of jazz lies in the connection forged through deep listening, creating moments that are spontaneous and unique. This improvisational spirit resonates with life itself, encapsulating the divine experience not just as something to comprehend but as something to hear, sing, feel, and live together in the moment.
