Farida Amadou (BE) + Ji Youn Kang (KR)
Join us for an unforgettable evening at the Göteborg Art Sounds Festival 2026 featuring incredible performances by:
🌟 Farida Amadou
A self-taught electric bassist and sound sculptor based in Brussels, Farida Amadou is celebrated for her raw and intuitive improvisation style. With collaborations that include renowned artists like Thurston Moore, Peter Brötzmann, and Moor Mother, she merges free jazz, noise, and intricate rhythmic structures to craft immersive soundscapes that oscillate between intensity and clarity. Her solo project, including the notable album When It Rains It Pours (2024), highlights her exceptional skill in creating spontaneous sonic worlds imbued with power, precision, and emotional depth.
🎶 Ji Youn Kang
Hailing from The Hague, Ji Youn Kang is a Korean composer, performer, and sound artist whose work draws inspiration from the rites of Korean Shamanism. Her innovative pieces often utilize Wave Field Synthesis systems to investigate the interplay between musical and physical spaces. As a solo performer, she adeptly combines acoustic instruments, analog and digital sounds, along with DIY synthesizers and live laptop processing. For this festival, she will present “machi-nory,” a live performance that constructs an unstable sonic machine using circuits, metal plates, and electromagnetic feedback, allowing sound to arise from the dynamic relationships between materials, performer, signal, and space.
