Join us for a captivating journey through the exhibition: GIORGIO DE CHIRICO – Painting is a Magical Art. Discover the depth of De Chirico's work, curated by Lorenzo Canova, a distinguished professor from the University of Molise and a member of the Giorgio and Isa de Chirico Foundation. This incredible exhibition is brought to you by the ALEDYA Foundation and the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague, in collaboration with the Casa d'Arte San Lorenzo in San Miniato, all under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Prague.

🎨 Exhibition Overview

The exhibition is meticulously designed to fit within the majestic spaces of the institute, a stunning architectural gem dating back to the late 16th and early 17th centuries:

• Baroque Chapel: Witness a selection of works showcasing a significant period in the artist's life, ranging from the 1930s to the early 1970s. Marvel at his interpretations of metaphysical architecture and enchanting vedutes of Venice along with depictions of iconic Italian squares.
• Chapter Hall: View a remarkable array of artworks focusing on De Chirico's “baroque” phase. Enjoy pieces featuring horses and riders, as well as still lifes that the artist lovingly referred to as “quiet lives”.
• Foyer: Experience the artist's graphics, including drawings, sketches, lithographs, and engravings from the renowned printer Alberto Caprini, with whom De Chirico shared a rich collaborative history.

With around 60 outstanding works sourced from prestigious Italian and European private collections, this exhibition beautifully reflects De Chirico's ties to Prague and his friendship with the eminent Czech painter Jan Zrzavý.
