
History of Food
Nothing on your plate is there by accident. Each ingredient, cooking technique, and flavor combination carries a story shaped by history. These stories are rooted in cultural traditions, social structures, and the environmental and material conditions in which people lived, making food a powerful lens through which we can understand movements through history.
In the talk offered by PhD student and gastronome Vincent Marcus, we will begin to explore the belief systems, material realities, and historical events that have shaped and continue to shape what and how we eat.
