Horses and Wellness: Patricia Kelly on Equine Therapy

📸 Inspired by the exhibit Black Cowboys in America featuring stunning photographs by Ron Tarver and Robert Peterson, Kelly will also introduce the Mary Fields Horse and Heritage Museum. This new establishment, located at the Ebony Horsewomen Equestrian & Therapeutic Center, celebrates the contributions of African-American horsemen and women.

🏇 Through the story of Mary Fields, also known as “Stagecoach Mary,” the first African-American female U.S. Postal Service carrier, the museum aims to preserve an often-overlooked history while amplifying voices from communities of color.

🌟 Patricia E. Kelly, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and dedicated cowgirl, has been leading nationally recognized equine-assisted therapy programs since founding Ebony Horsewomen in 1984. Her organization centers culturally competent care, providing access to horseback riding, wellness programs, and certification training, while promoting awareness of Black equestrian history.
