INDIGO For BIPOC Community

Workshop Overview

Join us for a vibrant exploration of Indigo, the sacred blue dye that has traveled from its origins in India to many corners of the globe! 🌍 In this one-day workshop, we'll delve into various artistic applications and cultural practices related to Indigo, led by BIPOC instructors from diverse backgrounds.

Participants will:

• Learn techniques in pattern and design 🎨
• Tour the beautiful Fibershed Learning Center garden and harvest fresh Indigo grown locally in Point Reyes, CA.
• Receive 3 items to dye and are welcome to bring one small personal item made from natural fibers to add to the dye vat. 🌱

This collaborative class encourages creativity and play, with no pressure for perfection. Lunch will be provided! 🍽️

What to Bring:

• Water Bottle 💧
• Dress in layers & wear something you don’t mind getting blue, or bring an art apron for protection.
• Personal rubber dish washing gloves (optional)
• One small personal item made from natural fibers (silk, cotton, flax, linen, wool, alpaca, etc.)
• Comfortable shoes (slip-on or zipper shoes preferred; outdoor shoes not allowed indoors)
• Your smile and curiosity! 😄

• Samuel Bautista Lazo - Naga' na Nga' (Green is blue) - A virtual presentation on the history and evolution of Xiuhquilitl dyes in Anawak. 🌱

This workshop is exclusively for self-identifying BIPOC community members. Space is Limited. Join us for a free cultural community workshop supported by Native One & the Fibershed Learning Center Fellowship program.
