Visitors will discover the spiritual beauty and emotional depth of the music of Franz Schubert, a composer who stands at the crossroads of late Classicism and nascent Romanticism. Musica Florea, which has been dedicated to historically informed interpretation of 19th- and 20th-century works for more than ten years, will present Schubert's spiritual compositions in 2026 on period instruments and in the authentic musical expression of his time.
Schubert's genius was already recognized by Ludwig van Beethoven, who said that he had "the spark of divine genius" within him. His sacred works combine brilliant musical energy with melancholic intimacy and a gradually emerging romantic sensibility. The extended, broad phrases and monumentality of some of the musical settings of the liturgical ordinary – lasting around 50 minutes – follow on from Joseph Haydn's grandiose masses, but at the same time open up a new musical world.
This exceptional concert is being organized in collaboration with Collegium 419 and offers a unique opportunity for fans of historically informed performance practice to come together.
"Come and experience Schubert authentically – with his delicacy, monumentality, and inner beauty, just as it could have been heard in his time."
