Make, Dip & Dye for Adults Workshop
Join us for an afternoon at the Magnolia Workshop to create your own textile masterpiece! 🎨 Using traditional indigo dye techniques, you'll witness your fabric transform into a stunning blue right before your eyes.
As part of our America 250 programming, this hands-on workshop delves into the science of natural fermentation and oxidation. We will also honor the complex history of indigo—one of colonial South Carolina’s most significant cash crops—and recognize the vital knowledge and labor of enslaved Africans who mastered its cultivation in the Lowcountry.
Unwind, create, and connect while enjoying a selection of light bites and refreshments.
Workshop Highlights:
- Elevate Your Table: Design and dye a custom set of four dinner napkins to take home—a perfect, functional souvenir of your experience.
- The Science of Blue: Explore the fascinating chemistry of natural dye fermentation and oxidation.
- Living History: Connect with America's Revolutionary past through the lens of Southern agricultural history.
- Bonus Admission: Extend your day with a self-guided stroll through Magnolia’s Heritage Garden and our unique indigo maze.
