Muff

Groove-jazz band Muff will perform at Prague's Jazz Dock on August 12th as part of a birthday concert. The band moves consistently outside mainstream currents and easily readable styles. Their music emerges from tension between order and chaos, between firmly anchored groove and open space for improvisation. Jazz, rock, electronics and psychedelic moods blend naturally in Muff's work as part of one continuous musical language. The music is built on strong motifs, repetition and gradual layering of details. Compositions develop like living organisms—sometimes pushing with uncompromising energy, other times diving into hypnotic surfaces and open improvisations. The five experienced musicians benefit from long-term collaboration and the courage to take risks. Each concert is an original created here and now in direct contact with the audience. Muff don't play "songs"—they create currents, tension and atmospheres into which the listener can be drawn. Live, the band confirms its reputation as one of the most energetic and most open projects on the domestic scene. The concert will offer a cross-section of work across albums and transformed versions of older compositions that never remain the same. Muff is music for those who like to be surprised.
