🌍 Open Mic: How To Love Our Mothers + Exhibition + Delicious Food!

Gather with us for an evening dedicated to exploring voices across histories, migrations, and in-betweens. Dive into the many ways we cherish our mothers—through love, distance, care, and contradiction.

📅 What to Expect:

• Poetry, stories, comedy, or whatever is on your heart. Our stage is open to you!
• An interactive exhibition featuring creative outputs from past workshops related to "How to Love Our Mothers".

💬 Want to share your perspective?

• Performances are 5 minutes max! Limited open mic slots available—be sure to sign up by 22 May. DM us at @howtoloveourmothers to secure your spot.
• Not looking to perform? Just come and enjoy the atmosphere, engage in discussions about love and conflict as political acts, and soak in the powerful stories shared on stage.

Agenda:

• 6:00 PM — Doors open: Mingle, explore the exhibition, and enjoy some Singaporean food (no stress if you’re running on 'Berlin time'—we've got you covered!)
• ~8:00 PM — Open mic begins: An hour of sharing through poetry, stories, comedy, and heartfelt feelings.
• ~8:30 PM — Short break: Stretch, snack, and chat!
• ~8:40 PM — Open mic continues.
• 9:00 PM onwards — Hang out: Enjoy more food, conversations, and a relaxed atmosphere!

🎤 Your Host:

Maya Ibrahim, originally from Singapore and now residing in Berlin, is a passionate writer and researcher focusing on intersectional feminism, decoloniality, and reimagining education. She is currently developing her book, “How To Love Our Mothers,” part of a larger project focusing on the perspectives of daughters, especially those living away from their families. Maya's work seeks to address systemic inequalities tied to migration, gender equality, and education.
