What is Le Phonographique?

Founded in the depths of the Merrion Centre, Leeds, in 1979, Le Phonographique is celebrated as the WORLD’s FIRST gothic nightclub—three years before the Bat Cave! 🎤 It held memorable nights featuring legends like The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, and even The Clash in 1985, becoming a refuge for the alternative and often misunderstood souls of the era.

The original venue closed in 2006, but in 2008, former owners and DJs resurrected the spirit of The Phono. Now, we're hosting retro alternative music events, promising authenticity and nostalgia for both original goths and punk enthusiasts, as well as the alternative youth of today who want to experience the magic of the past.
