Join us for the Protest Song Writing Contest and celebrate the power of music in addressing social issues! From legendary artists like Mavis Staples and Woody Guthrie to modern voices like Childish Gambino, songwriters have always used their art to inspire change and foster community spirit. Now, it’s your turn to contribute!

📝 Submission Details:
Email a recording of your original protest song (in MP3 or video format) to info@heartwoodsoundstage.com with the subject line “Protest Song Writing Contest” by June 21st.

🎤 Contest Details:
Selected songwriters will perform live at the Heartwood Soundstage on July 12th from 6-8 p.m. in the Bob McPeek Listening Room. A panel of judges, including local songwriters, poets, and community organizers, will evaluate the performances based on creativity, lyricism, musicality, and originality.

The winner will take home a prize basket featuring a bar tab and tickets to future shows at Heartwood Soundstage!

Everyone is welcome to enjoy the live performances on July 12th, with a sliding scale admission. Proceeds benefit Heartwood Soundstage and Community Spring, a nonprofit focused on combating poverty and promoting economic justice.
