O události

Hello! This will be the second Revolutionists' Night in London on the intersection of artificial intelligence and animals, and this one will focus on AI and factory farming. I (Alistair) am particularly keen for pro-animal types who don't know loads about AI – or who are sceptical about AI – to come and share their views.
Some questions to ponder before, during and after the discussion:
Is AI actually a big deal?
Even if AI is a big deal, will AI affect farmed animals?
If AI does affect farmed animals, will it be more positive or negative?
How can we steer AI in a more positive direction for animals?
How should the animal movement use AI in our advocacy, if at all?
What norms (if any) should we adopt relating to AI-generated text, images etc.?
Reading (nice summary of the topic): https://farmanimalwelfare.substack.com/p/what-could-ai-mean-for-animals
Bonus reading 1 (how AI in animal farming could be good): https://www.europarl.europa.eu/thinktank/en/document/EPRS_BRI(2025)772840
Bonus reading 2 (how AI in animal farming could be bad): https://aeon.co/essays/how-to-reduce-the-ethical-dangers-of-ai-assisted-farming
And a pitch: Sentient Futures Summit London 2026 will probably be the single best place to learn, discuss and act on these ideas in person in the world this summer. Tickets to and volunteering opportunities at the main conference on Friday 22nd May remain available: https://www.sentientfutures.ai/sfslondon2026
(Disclaimer: I am a co-lead of SFS London 2026.)
The photo in this Luma event is of Better Origin's "hyperlocal AI-powered insect farm", which as of 2022 was feeding up to 64,000 UK hens being farmed for their "carbon-neutral" eggs for Morrisons supermarket.
