Tired of cold DMs that go nowhere?

Sassy Salon is a monthly networking event for brands and content creators in London — bringing the right people into the same room so the conversations that usually take months of outreach can happen over a coffee instead.

Hosted by Sassy Talent, each session brings together approximately 30 brands and online content creators for a focused morning of panel discussion, structured introductions, and genuine connection. No pitch decks. No hard sell. Just the room.

This Month's Panel: Derrick Kakembo & Myah Asha jeffers

Our first Sassy Salon features a conversation with:

Derrick Kakembo - London-based Ugandan-born filmmaker, photographer, and founder of Reform The Funk, a production studio championing underrepresented voices in cultural and commercial media.

Derrick's work sits at the intersection of brand storytelling and authentic cultural filmmaking. He has collaborated with the V&A Museum, BBC, Netflix, Island Records, Uber, and Leica, and his films have appeared on Nowness and in Vogue Italia. His portraiture has captured Ashley Walters, Stefflon Don, Post Malone, Bree Runway, and Davido.

He brings a rare perspective on what it means to make work that is both commercially compelling and genuinely representative - exactly the conversation brands and creators need to be having right now.

Myah Asha Jeffers - Barbados-raised, London-based photographer, writer, and director whose work centres the nuances of daily life within diasporic communities, turning genuine human connection into visually arresting, honest storytelling. She works closely with brands including Leica and WeTransfer.

Myah's debut short film Bathsheba world-premiered at Inside Out Film Festival (2024) and won Best Performance at S.O.U.L. Film Festival, with nominations for Best Film and Best Director. She was selected as one of four emerging writers for the DWDP TV writing scheme (2025), supported by Left Bank Pictures (SONY) and the National Film & Television School, and is currently developing two original series.

Her photography has featured in Vogue, The Guardian, ELLE, The Sunday Times Magazine, Aesthetica, It's Nice That, and the British Journal of Photography, with solo and group shows across London, New York, and Houston.

She brings a perspective that is rare in this space - someone who moves fluidly between documentary photography, editorial commissions, and narrative filmmaking, always with community and authenticity at the centre. Exactly the conversation brands and creators need to be having right now.
