SPREAD and Mice 1961 Reading and Signing
Join us for a remarkable evening celebrating the launch of SPREAD: The Anthology and the re-issue of Mice 1961! This exciting event will take place at Long Brothers Fine and Rare Books and will feature a delightful live jazz trio led by the talented Lori Goldston, bringing you memorable tunes from 1961.
SPREAD, initiated in the early 2000s and relaunched in 2019, stands out by circulating for free at select venues across the city, showcasing both prominent literary figures and under-the-radar authors cherished by avid readers. In the face of a digitally-driven culture, the diverse selections in SPREAD remind us of an era when poetry thrived—where blue-collar bohemia and modern urban life intertwined beautifully.
We’re thrilled to have local literary icon Stacey Levine in attendance, celebrating the Ecco re-issue of her 2025 Pulitzer Prize fiction finalist, Mice 1961. Stacey is a regular contributor to SPREAD and a prolific novelist who has teamed up with cartoonists and other SPREAD alums like David Lasky and Chuk Baldock. Don’t miss out on this unique celebration of literature and community!
