Your children will explore sustainable farming, food security, farm-to-table concepts, and the magic of composting through hands-on eco-arts, interactive activities, engaging peer-to-peer discussions, independent reading times and the scientific method. Guided by inspiring guest presenters, your children will uncover how agriculture supports our communities and the environment! The program wraps up with a creative group project, where students share their farm-inspired ideas and discoveries with friends and family.Urban Wetlands Warriors: Jump into the world of wetlands! This interactive program invites your children to discover how wetlands protect our watersheds and start to explore the impacts of urban development. Through interactive and socially engaging activities, hands-on eco-arts and crafts, field observations, independent reading times and engaging activities with inspiring guest presenters; children will use the scientific method to uncover the secrets of these vital ecosystems. By week’s end, they’ll create a group project to share with friends and family, showcasing their discoveries and ideas for protecting these essential habitats.Forest Explorers: Discover the secrets of the forest! Designed for the curious mind, this program brings woodland ecology to life through hands-on exploration, socially engaging activities, independent reading times and the scientific method. With the guidance of inspiring guest presenters, your children will investigate forest habitats, identify plants and animals, and uncover the intricate web of life that thrives in our woodlands. The week wraps up with a special group project where the children share their discoveries with family and friends, showcasing the wonders of the woods through their own scientific lens.Garden Ecology and Design: Unleash your creativity! Your children will explore the beauty and harmony of the NY Chinese Scholar's Garden, Tuscan Garden, and Healing Garden (among others!), while learning about the vital role ecosystems and climate regions play in shaping these landscapes. Through an introduction to biophilic design, community mapping, and the connections between local ecology and garden design, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how nature and design intersect. Engaging workshops, hands-on eco-arts and craft activities, and insights from inspiring guest presenters will empower your children to reimagine these stunning spaces. The program wraps up with a group project where students showcase their innovative ideas to friends and family, celebrating their unique connection to nature, community, and the environment.
