Summer on the Lawn: “Black Panther” Movie Book Club

Join us for a fantastic evening as we wrap up the summer season with the MHC’s Summer on the Lawn series! 🎬 In collaboration with TriLingua Cinema and SAGE GRAY, we present a community conversation and outdoor screening of the iconic movie, Black Panther.

👤 Meet SAGE GRAY: A renowned scholar of Afrofuturist Design and creator of the Wakanda Syllabus, SAGE will kick off the evening with an insightful discussion about the significance of the Black Panther multiverse in both historical and contemporary contexts.

🎥 Film Screening: Experience the epic journey of T’Challa, the King of Wakanda, as he battles archrival Killmonger and navigates the political challenges of protecting his nation. This film is rated PG-13 and has a runtime of 134 minutes. Parents and caregivers can refer to Common Sense Media for detailed content information.

🕖 Showtime: The screening will start right after sunset, around 7:20 p.m.

🍽️ Light refreshments will be provided by TriLingua Cinema and MHC. Feel free to bring picnics, lawn chairs, and blankets for a comfy viewing experience! 🌳 Please note, the location will be in an open field with minimal shade, so plan accordingly.

🚻 Facilities: Restrooms will be available for use at the Minnesota Humanities Event Center.
