SUP Frederick’s 4th Annual 32-Miler on the Potomac River: Camping Edition

Join us for an unforgettable paddle adventure on the scenic Potomac River! Experience our annual 32-mile downstream paddle from Brunswick, MD to Violette’s Lock!
📆 Date: August 1–2, 2026
Whether you're new to long-distance paddling or a returning 32-Miler veteran, this is NOT a race; it's a laid-back journey where we move together, enjoy the scenery, and embrace the rhythm of the river!

🌊 What's in Store:

• Enjoy magnificent views and meet great people
• Relish snack breaks and share stories
• Paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes are all welcome!

📍 Route:
Brunswick Boat Ramp → Violette’s Lock = 32 miles
🕘 Day One:

• Meet at: 8:30 AM
• Launch: 9:00 AM sharp at Brunswick Boat Ramp (near the MARC train station).
  We’ll paddle about 16 miles on day one before camping overnight at 🏕️ Marble Quarry Hiker-Biker Campsite (first-come, first-serve with fire pit & restroom).

☕ Day Two:
We pack up in the morning and paddle to White’s Ferry for breakfast and regroup before the final stretch to Violette’s Lock!

You Have Options:

• Paddle the full 32 miles over two days
• Join for Day One only
• Paddle Day Two from White's Ferry (breakfast meetup!)
• Camp overnight and explore the C&O Canal Towpath
• Connect with the group along the route—just reach out for ETA to next meeting point.

🚻 Restroom Stops:
Plenty of breaks will be taken for restrooms, stretching, snacks, and regrouping. Safety is our priority!

✅ Required Gear:

• PFD / life jacket, leash (SUPs), whistle, LOTS of water + snacks, dry bag, portable battery bank, sunscreen/hat, and shorter fins are recommended.

🏕️ Camping Gear:

• Tent/hammock, sleeping gear, headlamp/flashlight, camp supplies.
  This is a self-supported paddle.
  ⚠️ Safety Note:
  Do NOT paddle beyond Violette’s Lock; larger rock formations and the Great Falls area are hazardous.
  We will monitor river conditions, weather, and water quality closely.

🚙 Logistics:
Carpool plans and vehicle staging will be coordinated. Use comments to connect with others about logistics.
