Ria Kalsi is the Founder & CEO of Matriarch, a platform focused on building the skills we’re rarely taught but rely on every day at work: navigating identity, power, and belonging. She has worked with organisations including Amazon, Verizon, King’s College London and The Telegraph, supporting over 4,000 people through workshops that combine lived experience with practical tools.
Her philosophy: ‘be who you needed when you were younger’ underpins how she creates spaces where people feel seen, supported, and able to grow.
What Ria will cover
In product and tech, “belonging” is often talked about, but rarely translated into something actionable. This session focuses on what it actually takes to build belonging, for yourself and within your teams, especially if you’re operating in environments where you’ve felt overlooked, different, or unsupported.
Ria will explore how empathy, accountability and self-awareness show up in real-world dynamics, and how to move from simply “coping” at work to actively shaping environments where you and others can thrive. Expect a mix of reflection, practical frameworks, and honest conversation grounded in lived experience.
