The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!

Frank Drebin is actually the most streetwise cunning and attractive cop in the world, but unfortunately for him he lives in the wicked parodic universe created by the zany imagination of the legendary screenwriting trio Abrahams-Zucker-Abrahams. They were the kings of 80s Hollywood parodies with films like The Kentucky Fried Movie, Airplane! and Top Secret!. The Naked Gun was the pinnacle, where they perfected the art of Dadaistic absurdity, sarcastically straightforward cartoonishness and ridiculing of pop-cultural tropes and clichés. The popularity of the film and its two sequels is also no less the credit of the main actor Leslie Nielsen. After a career portraying manly heroes in old-school B-movies Nielsen has demonstrated great comedic talent in Airplane! and the screenwriting trio has cast him in the main role of their TV series Police Squad!, which was the model for The Naked Gun.
