We warmly invite you to the opening of Appearance and to our summer party at Buchkunst Berlin.
For the first time in Berlin, the three bodies of work Appearance, Hong Kong Romance, and Costumes will be presented together. The works combine Polaroid photography, historical source images, and painterly interventions.
Landscapes, urban spaces, and portraits are transformed into multilayered images situated between representation and abstraction, personal memory and historical experience.

At the centre of the exhibition are questions of memory, longing, loss, and transformation. Photography appears not as an immutable document, but as a living pictorial space in which material, painting, and subjective perception continually enter into new relationships.

During the opening, Thomas Gust will speak about his work, his artistic approach, and the creation of the exhibited pieces.
We look forward to spending a summer afternoon together with art, conversations, drinks, and a small buffet!
