Toni Geitani x Marmoucha Orchestra

Marmoucha Orchestra presents Wahj, a new live performance based on Toni Geitani’s album of the same name. For this tour, Geitani and other members of Marmoucha Orchestra develop arrangements that reimagine the album for a compact, flexible ensemble of six musicians.

Sung in Classical Arabic (fuṣḥā) and rooted in maqām traditions, Wahj moves between experimental electronics, ambient music, and contemporary Arabic sound worlds. In the live version, Marmoucha Orchestra deepens these materials into an immersive audiovisual performance in which instrumentation, electronics, and motion-controlled visuals continuously interact.

Wahj (Arabic for “radiance”) explores “collapse” as a landscape from which resistance, hope, and new possibilities emerge as an inevitable result. The performance creates an Arab-futurist space that is both intimate and immersive, connecting with audiences from contemporary music, ambient electronics, the Arab and SWANA diaspora, and the international art and festival scene.

Marmoucha Orchestra presenteert Wahj, een nieuwe live-performance gebaseerd op het gelijknamige nieuwe album van projectleider Toni Geitani. Voor deze tour ontwikkelen Geitani en andere leden van Marmoucha Orchestra arrangementen die het album opnieuw verbeelden voor een compacte, flexibele bezetting van 6 musici.

Gezongen in klassiek Arabisch (fuṣḥā) en geworteld in maqām-tradities beweegt Wahj tussen experimentele elektronica, ambient en hedendaagse Arabische klankwerelden. In de live-versie verdiept Marmoucha Orchestra deze materialen tot een meeslepende, audiovisuele performance waarin instrumentatie, elektronica en beweging-gestuurde visuals continu op elkaar reageren.

Wahj (Arabisch voor ‘radiance’) onderzoekt “instorting” als een landschap waaruit verzet, hoop en nieuwe mogelijkheden oplichten als een onvermijdelijk resultaat. De voorstelling creëert een Arabisch-futuristische ruimte die zowel intiem als immersief is, en die aansluiting vindt bij publiek uit de hedendaagse muziek, ambient electronics, de Arabische en SWANA-diaspora, en de internationale kunst- en festivalwereld.
