Tyler Michael James, Cellist, in Concert

Join us for an enchanting evening of music as Friends of Music at St. Thomas’s proudly presents the extraordinary cellist Tyler Michael James, accompanied by Manuel Piazza on piano and organ.

With a reputation for a "soulful, lyrical tone" and a "phenomenal color palette", Tyler has collaborated with prestigious ensembles such as the Tristan Trio, A Far Cry, and Fermata Chamber Soloists. His extensive experience spans performances at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rockport Music, and the Bar Harbor Music Festival, showcasing his versatility as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator.

As a champion of contemporary music, Tyler has worked closely with composers like Jessie Montgomery and has premiered pieces like Benjamin Shbarber’s Concerto “The Wolf”. Currently, he shares his passion for music as a faculty member at the Boston String Academy and Project STEP, while mentoring young musicians at renowned festivals throughout New England.
