Join us for our second event where Austin Smith will present a paper he co-authored with Lucius Caviola and Heather Alexander titled 'Denying Personhood to AI: An Analysis of U.S. State Legislation on AI Legal Status'. This will be followed by a Q&A session with co-author Heather Alexander, plus networking opportunities to engage with fellow enthusiasts.

📜 From the Abstract:
Since 2022, 23 bills have been introduced across 12 U.S. states aiming to limit the legal rights and responsibilities of AI systems. These "Exclusion Bills" commonly deny legal personhood to AI, marking a significant legislative move towards addressing AI's legal status.
