Sculpture Workshop by Katerina Sokolovskaya
Sculpture Workshop
This workshop invites participants to explore sculpture through plaster and mixed media techniques. Working with touch, texture, and material transformation, we will create forms inspired by personal memories, everyday experiences, and bodily perception. Through casting, layering, and experimentation with different materials, participants will develop sculptural objects that hold traces of gestures, time, and individual stories. No previous experience is required
*This workshop is limited to 10 participants. Advance registration is required. If the workshop is full, you may join the waitlist.
Participants Are Encouraged to Bring
1–3 small objects connected to a personal memory or experience
Photographs, letters, fabrics, or other meaningful materials
Clothes suitable for working with plaster
About the Artist in Residence
Katerina Sokolovskaya is NWNY Artist-in-Residence who will lead this hands-on sculpture workshop. She works with plaster, clay, silicone, and mixed media to create sculptural installations exploring transformation, the body, and embodied memory. Her work traces the experience of migration as an internal process, using casting and imprinting to preserve traces of touch, pressure, and change. At Governors Island, she is developing a participatory installation that grows over time through visitor contributions, creating a collective sculptural work that reflects a range of personal stories and experiences. instagram.com/katerina.sokolovskaya.art
