AI Engineer Kids Day

Über die Veranstaltung

Welcome to our very first AI Engineer Kids Day—we’re thrilled to have you here! 🎉

This special event brings together curious young minds and their families for a fun, hands-on introduction to artificial intelligence, coding, and technology. We’re especially excited to welcome Cassandra Chin and Kaitlyn Hornbuckle, two outstanding computer science graduates who have led engaging workshops at conferences around the world.

Together, they’ll guide participants through interactive sessions designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and make complex ideas accessible and fun. 💻✨

These workshops are recommended for kids aged 9 to 15, and parents are encouraged to join. Whether you’re completely new to AI or already curious about how things work behind the scenes, this is a chance to learn, explore, and create—together! 🤖🌈

Workshops

Phippy’s AI Friend Workshop
Led by Cassandra Chin
Did you know you can learn how modern applications work while helping Phippy the giraffe on a rescue mission? Based on the book Phippy’s AI Friend: Story and Workshop for Kids and Parents, this hands-on workshop invites kids to help Phippy save his friends after a shipwreck. Along the way, they’ll learn how to wire sensors on a breadboard and write simple code using an Arduino Nano to activate them. Participants will also be introduced to foundational concepts behind how applications run and connect, inspired by Kubernetes—all through a fun, interactive scenario.

Learn Game Development with Claude and Godot
Led by Kaitlyn Hornbuckle
Did you know you can use Claude to create fun custom games with a free and open-source game engine called Godot? Join Kaitlyn in exploring fundamental 3D game design techniques with the help of artificial intelligence. Attendees learn how to leverage prompt engineering skills to create 3D scenes, build and execute GDScripts, trigger custom events with collisions, and integrate an interactive story that brings the game to life. As a bonus, prototype techniques and online safety tips are sprinkled in!

What to know before you come:

  • Please bring your own laptop for hands-on activities.
  • Space is limited, so if you’re unable to attend, please cancel your registration to allow another child to join.
  • We will be taking photos and videos during the event, which will be shared online. Please let us know if you agree to be included in the registration process.
  • Parents or guardians must be present to sign their child in and out at the event.
  • Parking is available at the Fifth & Mission / Yerba Buena Parking Garage.

Call for Volunteers

We’re looking for volunteers to support kids during the hands-on workshops. Parents and those with some technical background are invited to help guide and inspire kids as they build and explore. Please register at dev.neo4j.com/AIE_Kids_Day_Volunteer

We can’t wait to build with you! 🚀
