Klez Brandar — LUSK DIZEHAN // 10

Über die Veranstaltung

LUSK DIZEHAN means “perpetual movement” in Breton. It is both the title and the spirit of Klez Brandar’s evolving photographic project. Since its inception in 2016, LUSK DIZEHAN has grown into a series of exhibitions that capture the essence of our time: the relentless motion of society, the tension between tradition and progress, and the human stories that bind us all. Each edition of the project is a snapshot of Brandar’s journey, both literal and metaphorical, as he seeks to understand and interpret the world through his lens.

Klez Brandar is a globe-trotter photographer, actor, skateboarder and musician born in October 1984 in Nantes (France). A polyglot fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Breton, he also tries his best to speak Czech. He has called Prague home for over a decade. His artistic practice spans photography, film, and music, often exploring the interplay between tradition and contemporary life. Brandar’s projects, like LUSK DIZEHAN, reflect his fascination with movement, culture, and the human story, using both analog and digital methods to craft images that resonate with depth and timelessness.

For this exhibition, LUSK DIZEHAN // 10, Brandar collaborated closely with Prague-based photographer Honza Sakař, embarking on a year-long creative process to produce a body of work that is as technically innovative as it is conceptually rich. The images were hand-printed by Honza in his studio darkroom as tintypes, a 19th-century wet plate collodion direct positive process, a method known for its distinctive depth, character, and durability. Honza has been honing his wet plate skills as a professional portrait photographer over the last 11 years and has recently developed and custom-built a sophisticated direct digital-to-analogue photo enlarger that allows him to produce these silver-based images on aluminium plates regardless of the technique and camera used to capture them. The choice of such a creative process infuses the works with a sense of uniqueness, history, and craftsmanship, bridging the past and present.

Each piece in the exhibition is printed in strictly limited editions, between one and three copies, ensuring that every image remains rare and collectible. On the back of each print, a unique number is inscribed, a quiet testament to the exclusivity and intentionality behind the work.

LUSK DIZEHAN is an invitation to pause and reflect on the perpetual movement that defines our lives. Through these images, Brandar challenges us to look beyond the surface, to find meaning in the fleeting moments, and to recognize the stories that connect us all.
