Join us for a thought-provoking international academic workshop hosted by the Taube Department of Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław! 🏛️ This event will delve into the significant contributions of Jewish architects in shaping the urban landscapes of East Central Europe during the interwar period.
Event Highlights:
- Featuring presentations from esteemed scholars and researchers from various prominent institutions including ISS PAN Warsaw, Brno University of Technology, KU Leuven, University of Gothenburg, Technical University Prague, and others.
- Explore how Jewish architects became key players in architectural design amidst political transformations, professional mobility, rising nationalism, and antisemitism.
- Investigate the role of architecture in responding to societal needs, including civic representation, hygienic modernization, and social reform. 📐🕌🏘️
This workshop seeks to understand how Jewish architects acted as agents and “brokers of modernity,” contributing to the architectural narrative and practices during a tumultuous time in history.
