About August:
August began as an 8-piece horn band in 1972, featuring a 4-member rhythm section and 4 horns. The band performed steadily until 1976 when internal conflicts led to a split. In 2005, they reformed with a larger horn section, and their first performance back was at the pavilion of the then “Walter Payton’s Roundhouse” in Aurora on August 22, 2006.

Despite a thunderstorm cutting the initial performance short, the band continued to thrive, playing throughout the Chicagoland area. They appeared on WGN-TV’s noon news segments between 2009 and 2010, even featuring WGN-TV newscaster Steve Sanders on guitar.

In August 2010, they released their first CD, “Second Time Around,” with the release party held at The Roundhouse. The recording took place at Jim Peterik’s “World Stage Studios,” featuring a guest appearance by Peterik himself. Award-winning sound engineer Larry Millas handled the mixing for all of August’s recordings. A second single, “Chicago, Calling Me Home,” was recorded in 2013 at the same studio, written by Paul David Wilson.
