Bach: Viola v hlavní roli

An exceptional evening dedicated to the viola and the music of Johann Sebastian Bach will fill the space of St. John the Baptist Church in Jindřichův Hradec with its full depth and richness of tone. Performed by leading figures of the Czech music scene—Bohumil Bondarenko, Vladimír Bukač, Kristina Fialová, and Daniel Mach (viola), David Pěruška (cello), and Michaela Káčerková (harpsichord)—the program will showcase the viola in all its expressive breadth.

In addition to solo works such as the famous Partita No. 2 and Suite No. 2, and the chamber piece Gamba Sonata No. 3, the iconic Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 will also be performed—a work that uniquely places the viola at the very center of the musical action. It is here that the instrument’s dark timbre, depth, and lyrical quality fully unfold in dialogue with the other instruments.
The concert will offer not only exceptional interpretive quality but also a powerful aesthetic experience, blending the beauty of Baroque music with the unique atmosphere of the historic venue.
