Baltic Midsummer Festival
✨ Culture, Community & Fire — Chiang Mai ✨
Midsummer is the most significant night of the year across the Baltic states, celebrated on the longest day when people stay up until dawn. During this enchanting evening, participants come together to make food, weave flower crowns, sing, dance, and leap over bonfires, embracing the season and connection with one another.
Last year, the celebration was brought to life in Chiang Mai by Samanta from Latvia and Georgi from Estonia, gathering over 150 local Thais, long-term residents, and digital nomads for a night of shared joy, food, and fire. This year, we’re diving even deeper into the experience.
The theme for this year's festival is Reciprocity With Place, a vital question in the context of Chiang Mai, where many benefit from the local culture without seeking ways to give back. This year’s evening will intertwine Baltic midsummer traditions with Northern Thai practices rooted in community, plants, and food, conducted in both English and Thai.
