Join us for an enchanting morning of birdwatching at the historic Battleground! 🌳

Experience the breathtaking beauty of our native prairie, tidal marsh, and bottomland forest, reminiscent of the Battle of San Jacinto. 🏞️ Home to over 200 species of birds, including:

  • Red-winged Blackbird
  • Roseate Spoonbill
  • Wood Stork
  • Mottled Duck
  • Osprey
  • White Pelican

And don't miss the chance to spot river otters among the wetland wonders! 🦦

🌅 The early morning hours, between 7:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M., are perfect for birders and photographers. Arrive early to enjoy the serene atmosphere, and please keep noise to a minimum to respect the wildlife. 🚗

Enter the site from either the gates off Vista Road or Independence Parkway. Note: Facilities are limited as this event precedes the openings of the Monument and Museum; restrooms are available at the end of Park Road 1836.
