Synopsis:
Within the confines of a massage parlor in Flushing, Queens, Amy and Didi navigate romance, happiness, and the obligations of family thousands of miles from home. Despite the physical and emotional toll their work extracts, the women who live at the parlor have forged an unbreakable sisterhood. When tragedy strikes on Lunar New Year, Amy is forced to confront her own destiny for the first time — finding unexpected solace in Cheung (Lee Kang-sheng), the quiet regular customer whose own life is unraveling in parallel.
Constance Tsang's stunning directorial debut — shot on film, almost entirely in Mandarin — won the French Touch Prize at the 2024 Cannes Critics' Week and has been widely praised as one of the most tender, formally accomplished portraits of the immigrant experience in recent years.
