About the event

🌍 Bombino: A Desert Nomad Whose Guitar Tells Stories of Rebellion and Peace.

The phenomenon known as desert blues blends the traditional melodies of Saharan nomads with electric guitars and the raw emotional power of American blues. Alongside the genre's founding pioneers, Tinariwen, Bombino stands out as its most compelling figure—a phenomenal yet deeply authentic songwriter, guitarist, and singer. His music combines intimate personal storytelling with a rich, hypnotic sound filled with subtle, intricate guitar ornamentation.

Born in Niger, the very heart of the Sahara, Bombino is an innovator who reinvents his sound with every new release. His album Nomad was recorded in Nashville—the epicentre of American country music—with producer Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Its follow-up, Deran, earned a Grammy nomination.

In Prague, Bombino will present his latest album, Sahel, recorded this time on African soil, in Casablanca, Morocco. The album is a celebration of Tuareg identity and culture, produced by David Wrench, whose credits include David Byrne and Caribou.
