As part of the summer concert series at Čistírna1906, we will present a distinctive musical dialogue between Slovak multi-instrumentalist Michaela Antalová and Norwegian double bassist Adrian Myhr. The Oslo-based duo connects the traditional folk music of their respective countries with field recordings, improvisation, and an experimental approach to sound.

At Čistírna1906, they will perform delicate yet captivating compositions on the border of folklore, minimalism, jazz, and contemporary experimental music, including pieces from their latest album Sing Nightingale, released by the Mappa label. The concert will take place on 15 July 2026.

Slovak multi-instrumentalist Michaela Antalová and Norwegian double bassist Adrian Myhr combine the traditional folk music of their respective countries with field recordings, creating a new musical world. The Oslo-based duo, who have extensive experience in avant-garde music, classical music, improvisation, and jazz, recorded their debut album in their own home during lockdown. The meditative track Zvony features harmonium, field recordings of crickets, and the singing of a Slovak male choir. Their latest album, Sing Nightingale, released these days by the label Mappa, is a captivating work of folk experimentalism. It includes recordings of nightingale song at night and experiments with various instruments from around the world, as the duo explore their rich sonic textures and tonal possibilities.
