CO TO JE? // WHAT IS IT?

It is a meetup for everyone who has lived in Prague for some time and wants to get serious about their Czech language skills. It doesn’t matter where you come from; everyone attending will be encouraged to chat in Czech.

Michael Thomas constructed a successful language learning method using audio recordings of a class, allowing time for students to compose sentences themselves. As many psychologists suggest, your brain learns best while creating content. For example, once you solve a simple numerical task yourself, you are much more likely to remember the procedure years later than if you just try to memorize every formula.

Our language lessons utilize this knowledge to create a new approach. We assume you have picked up a few words over the months or years you have lived here, maybe read a book or two, and perhaps have a Czech dictionary nearby. You might understand a little but feel too lazy, shy, or insecure to use this skill in conversation.

Guess what? Everyone attending shares the same issue! You can switch to Spanish, English, or any language you prefer if you feel more comfortable, and maybe meet someone interesting for a more complex conversation.

You won’t leave with seven different homework assignments; we won’t give you tests or grades. We provide a comfortable and inspiring space in an art gallery, with background music and refreshments, encouraging your brain to do the work instead of teachers.

You should be somewhat serious about learning Czech to enjoy the experience fully, but you are more than welcome to come for a non-binding visit either way.
