Community Canal Run 2026

Channel Events is thrilled to collaborate with Taunton Running Club for the fabulous GOLD Award Winning Community Canal Run—totally FREE to participate!

🏁 Event Details:
📍 Start: YMCA, Bridgwater
🏞️ Finish: COACH, French Weir Park, Taunton
📅 Date: 28th December 2026
🕙 Time: 10:00 (registration starts at 11:00)

This scenic route takes you along the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal and River Tone, covering a lovely 14 miles off-road along the tow path. A shorter route of 7.5 miles will also be available, starting from the Somerset Boat Centre near Maunsel Upper Lock. Whether you choose to run, jog, or walk, just select the appropriate ticket when registering!

✅ Although participation is free, registration is essential to manage attendance and ensure insurance coverage.
🚰 A water station will be available at the halfway point (Maunsel Upper Lock) for the 14-mile route. We encourage you to visit the three cafés along the way for refreshments:

• Purple Spoon – YMCA
• Somerset Boat Centre
• The Weir – COACH

👐 Let's show our support for the Canal and River Trust, who generously waived the license fee for this event. While registration is free, you can make a donation here to show your appreciation.

👨‍⚕️ Apex Medical and Rescue volunteers will provide support throughout the event. Remember, it’s always better to be safe than sorry!
