Disko Souk & Middle Beast invite Marc Hype
Disko Souk is back with a brand-new event at our beloved store in the heart of Friedrichshain, Middle Beast!
After seeing your amazing support for our first two events there, we’ve decided to keep the energy going.
For this edition, we’re bringing in Berlin hip-hop and funk legend Marc Hype. Active since 1988 (initially as DJ Hype), he emerged from Berlin’s hip-hop scene with the group Cheeba Garden before going on to lead the DJ collective Phaderheadz. He’s a two-time German ITF DJ Mixing Champion (1998, 1999).
In the 2000s, he formed the long-running duo Marc Hype & Jim Dunloop with classical pianist Jim Dunloop, blending funk breaks, rock loops, and old-school hip-hop with live keys. A dedicated 45s advocate, Marc Hype also co-founded the Dusty Donuts label/crewknown for releases like the Weapons of Choice series and 7" edits—and remains a key figure in the global 45s community.
Alongside him, The Brahma (Disko Souk) will join Marc Hype, bringing a selection of boogie and classic house tunes.
