Two years have passed since November 1989, and the debates on a new form of state organization, which should finally bring to life the promised greater degree of autonomy for both parts of Czechoslovakia, are at their peak. What at first appeared to be a revision of mutual relations suddenly threatens a definitive break-up. The dialogue between then Czech Prime Minister Václav Klaus and Slovak Prime Minister Vladimír Mečiar promises a thrilling battle between two opposing, yet
similar in some ways. To what extent was the break-up of Czechoslovakia due to our different past? What were we willing to do to ensure that the other side also wanted to continue living in the common state? How the decision to divide the country was born, the audience will see exclusively in Villa Tugendhat, which is inseparably linked to it.
The programme is produced in cooperation with the Brno City Museum and Villa Tugendhat.
