We're thrilled to announce the shift in date following the announcement of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland during the same Bank Holiday weekend.

Why the Change?

• Operational Viability: Hosting two large events simultaneously was deemed operationally and economically unfeasible.
• Resource Pressures: With over 80,000 music fans expected at Herrington Country Park, local emergency services and security would be stretched too thin.
• Transport Issues: Anticipated traffic challenges from the BBC Big Weekend necessitate this change, ensuring smooth travel to and from Durham.
• Economic Benefits: Moving Pride ensures local businesses and vendors get full community support without competing with a national festival just 10 miles away.
• Weekend Fun: Enjoy the UK's biggest music festival and still make it to Durham Pride the next week!

• Date: Saturday, 30 May 2026
• Location: The Sands, Durham
• Main Event: The traditional parade kicks off at Durham Cathedral at 11:00 AM. Gates open to the public at the same time! 🚪
