About the event

We have inherited a story that time moves in one direction, at one speed, toward one kind of future. Progress. Growth. Optimization. That linear time is neutral and objective. But it never was. The dominant clock was built to serve particular interests, particular speeds, particular kinds of forgetting, and a specific kind of linear pace. We know this, yet most of us still plan, create, and measure our impact inside these dominant rhythms of time.
But what if we didn't have to? What if we could enter different, more generative timescapes? This is what we’ll explore together in this gathering.
The space is fluid but some of the things we plan to do together is:
Move through a series of different timescapes that explore what it means to design from time rhythms that have been erased, suppressed, and longed for.
Imagine temporal possibilities that the dominant clock was never designed to hold — ancestral time, ecological rhythms, seasonal patterns, and the slow work of tending to relationships.
Sit with grief and possibility in the same breath, composting what no longer serves and tending to what is still becoming.
This space is for the temporal wanderers, the ones who feel the pressure of the clock but long for another rhythm. Whether you're working inside systems or at their edges, you're not alone in sensing that something about the way we move through time in our practice is unsettling.
This is not a conventional workshop. It is an exploratory space to gather and witness. A collective wandering through time as a living, looping relationship: emergent and full of possibility.

About the hosts: Co-hosted by DesignShifts and What Grows Between Us: Tending to Time, with facilitation by Ida Persson, sahibzada mayed, and Christine Flanagan.
About the space: Medulla is a physical space for turning shared urgency into collective resilience.
The event will be in English and we'll have some food and drinks.
