Get ready for an All-Women Weekend Trip designed just for you! This summer, we're partnering with OurSpot to offer all-inclusive, beginner-friendly backpacking weekends in beautiful Harriman State Park. If you've ever wanted to try backpacking but felt daunted by gear or logistics, this is your chance to dive in!

What to Expect:

Over the weekend, you will:

• Learn the fundamentals of backpacking
• Carry a properly fitted backpack
• Set up camp under the guidance of experienced experts
• Enjoy meals prepared together as a group
• Sleep beneath a blanket of stars in Harriman State Park
• Build the confidence to plan your own future adventures

Your Ticket Includes:

• 🚗 Round-trip carpool transportation from Jersey City/NYC (meet guides Saturday morning @ 7:30am in Jersey City for ~1 hour drive to Harriman State Park)
• 🎒 Backpacking and camping gear rental through OurSpot
• 🍽️ Saturday lunch & dinner, plus Sunday brunch
• 👩‍🏫 Two experienced backpacking guides
• 📚 Pre-trip backpacking guide and a virtual Q&A session
• 🗺️ A fully planned overnight itinerary

Is This Trip Right for You?

Designed for beginner backpackers, this trip welcomes all women with a willingness to embrace the camping lifestyle. You should be:

• Comfortable carrying a backpack weighing up to 35 lbs for about 1 mile on uneven trails.
• Open to camping without amenities like running water, showers, or bathrooms (Leave No Trace bathroom practices will be taught).
  No previous experience is required, but a positive attitude and a sense of adventure will enhance your weekend! 💪

Why We Created This Series:

At Girls Gone Hiking, we aim to make the outdoors inviting and accessible for every woman. With expensive gear often being a barrier and finding companions to go with being tricky, this series eliminates those hurdles in a supportive, women-only environment. Backpacking and camping often feel out of reach because the gear is expensive (all of OurSpot's gear for this trip would've cost $1000+ to purchase!) and finding people to go with can be hard. We're proud to partner with OurSpot, a small business on a mission to make camping and backpacking more accessible for people living in and around NYC. Rather than purchasing and storing our own gear, we're partnering with a company whose entire mission is lowering the barriers to getting outside. Space is intentionally limited to 6 participants per trip to create a personalized, supportive learning environment. Come learn, ask questions, and discover the thrill of transitioning into the wild!

Your contribution directly supports professional women outdoor guides who are building careers in an industry that has historically been male-dominated. We believe outdoor leadership should reflect the diversity of everyone using our parks and trails, and we're thrilled to work with guides who help foster that change!

FAQ:

• Cancellation & Refund Policy:
  • 7+ days before: 75% refund.
  • Less than 7 days: No refunds.
  • If we cancel due to unsafe weather or other unforeseen circumstances, transfer options or full refunds will be provided.
  • Registrations are transferable to another woman with prior notice.
• Transportation: You can join at the trailhead if you prefer your own transport; however, the ticket price remains the same. We're all about the complete experience!
• Packing: A light packing list will be provided a week before, plus a virtual Q&A session!
• Pet Policy: Sorry, this trip is not dog-friendly. For the safety and comfort of both the group and your pet, dogs are not permitted on this backpacking weekend. 🐾
