Often referred to as the Godfather of House Music, Grammy Nominated Marshall Jefferson began his journey in Chicago’s Universal Recording Studios. His iconic 1986 single, “Move Your Body,” became a cornerstone of house music, being the first song in the genre to feature piano. Throughout the late 80s, his innovative work under various aliases helped shape the sound of house music, collaborating with artists like CeCe Rogers and Ten City.

Jefferson was also pivotal during the first House Music Tour in the UK, helping to establish house music on a global scale. His influence can still be felt today, with enduring classics like “Open Our Eyes” and “7 Ways to Jack.” After a brief hiatus in the early 90s, he returned in 1993 to share his music and passion at events like Tribal Gathering and Big Love.

His legacy continues with recent releases, including a collaboration on the remixed “Move Your Body” and the new single “Be Free” with Byron Stingily. Jefferson’s contributions are vital; house music would not be what it is today without him! 🎉
