ICHC 2026 – International Conference on the History of Cartography, Prague & Brno, Czechia
Join us for the 31st International Conference on the History of Cartography (ICHC)! 📜🌍 This unique conference is dedicated to expanding knowledge of the history of maps and mapmaking, transcending geographical boundaries, languages, periods, and topics.
ICHC fosters global cooperation among cartographic scholars, curators, collectors, and institutions through engaging illustrated lectures, presentations, exhibitions, and a vibrant social program. 🎤✨
Theme: Bridging the Past and Present in Cartography
We welcome paper and poster presentations on themes such as:
- 📍 Maps and Tourism
- 🏺 Maps as Artefacts
- 📐 The Third Dimension: Representing Elevation on Maps
- 📜 Mapping the Past: Historical Cartography at the Turn of the Digital Era
- 🗺️ Any other aspect of the history of cartography
Presentations:
- Papers: Each presentation lasts 15 minutes, followed by a discussion.
- Posters: Displayed through the conference, with a dedicated session on the second morning.
- Panel Proposals: Organized sessions are encouraged, but each presenter must submit their proposal individually.
Workshops: Four thematic workshops will complement the academic program.

Registration Fees:
- Regular: 340 EUR
- Students: 150 EUR
Venues:
ICHC 2026 will be held at prominent locations including the historical campus of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague and the Moravian Library in Brno. Participants can engage with key cartographic collections and enjoy thematic exhibitions, guided tours, field trips, and social events.
Fellowship: The Kislak Family Foundation offers scholarships for up to 5 participants.
