What is the Jazz Legacy Project? 🎵

Founded in 2015, the Jazz Legacy Project arose from Justin Varnes' experiences while teaching Jazz History at Georgia State University. Their residency at the Velvet Note jazz club in Atlanta has been a tremendous success, selling out performances for over six years!

By swapping traditional textbooks for engaging stories and records, Varnes has connected college students to jazz in an innovative way. The project highlights the connection between jazz, American history, and cultural shifts—opening a new world of understanding for its listeners.
